I agree that children with Down Syndrome are beautiful souls, and you've caught that beauty in this piece. The simplicity of not including anything but the child's features is great, and each feature is well done. The eyes are really what won me- they're so innocent and lively.
And who would remember to draw a child with down syndrome? Excellent work!
Sorry, in addition, I hit submit too soon. I have met a lot of people from babies to adults with Down Syndrome and have been floored by how positive they seem to be about life and how much joy and satisfaction they seem to have when I have interacted with them...I used to be a hair dresser and ran into people from all walks of life. I have yet to meet someone with Downs that would rather not have lived....They do find joy in so many things that we seem to forget about as we get older... I love your piece and hope others will understand your message.
I love the minimalist approach to this face. I'd have to agree with your sentiment, often the most joyful too (perhaps making them much wiser than most "normal" people.)
